South African Schools Alumni Association
The SASAA was inaugurated through the initiative of Grey College Reunion chairman 2008 - 2011, David Roberson.
The aim was mainly to forge and get acquainted with Old Scholars Associations of other schools, to build friendships and gain knowledge from others by exchanging how others function in their various associations.
To quote Ian Pringle from Grey High in P.E.: "We can’t make laws but ideas can be exchanged".
56 schools countrywide were approached and invited to the event in 2011, but only 15 schools sent representatives. Although it was a small start of ± 30 representatives, it was a great success. The event has especially helped smaller schools, of which Old Scholars did not have unions, where information was received on how to go about spontaneously implementing such a thing.
